This Is Your Life – A Special Event

Sharing Your Life Story

Renita and I at Silver Bridge Senior Transitions spend every day assisting seniors through what is often a traumatic transition from independence to needing higher levels of care. We find that every situation faced by seniors that come to us is unique but we are always asking the question what can we do to make things better and the transition less traumatic.

One of the most important tools that we have learned to use is to simply listen attentively to seniors telling us about their lives.

In our experience so far, once a transition has occurred, including an adjustment period, the lives of all of the seniors we have served improved. The experts in the care communities we talk with tell us that “socialization” is a major contributor to that process of improvement.

In this interview with Mark Regan and Liz Warren of Brookdale Montclair Community in Poulsbo we discuss how the care givers in their community enable friendships to foster and some details about an upcoming special event in April sponsored by Silver Bridge Senior Transitions.

We believe that each human life is important. Seniors moving into care communities have a number of opportunities to improve their lives and reflect upon the importance of their lives.

Ann Marie Coster Hahn, a team member of Senior Bridge Silver Transitions, has for decades taught primary school including at the Madrona School on Bainbridge Island. Ann Marie incorporated art, story telling, music, poetry and other creative components of learning by head, heart and hand to build the best possible foundation for her students’ lives. Ann Marie has received training in biography counseling and led groups of adults exploring the meaning of their lives through telling their life stories to one another.

Ann Marie and Silver Bridge Senior Transitions invite you to an afternoon of life story sharing on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Brookdale Montclair Poulsbo, 1250 NE Lincoln Road, Poulsbo, WA 98370. Please RSVP as space is limited at 360-697-2223.
